Top UK Home Improvement Exhibitions 2013

If you’re an amateur interior designer, or have an active interest in DIY or home improvement then these events should be on your calendar. Rather than spending days visiting stores and trawling the internet, make a day of it, have some fun, attend one of these exhibitions and you’ll be sure to get some inspiration.

Design Centre Chelsea Harbour

If you love interiors then a visit to the Design Centre Chelsea is a must. There are events with influential designers and designers showcasing their work throughout the year.

Visit London Design Week at the Design Centre. All welcome from 20th to 22nd March 2013 (prior only trade). Keep ahead of interiors trends, view new collections and be inspired.

Visit for more details.

Ideal Home Show – 15th March to 1st April

Held at Earls Court London UK and perhaps of the best known event. In recent years, however, when I’ve attended the number of exhibitors has reduced, but frankly you can still pick up some good ideas and in my experience can also get a good deal. Don’t be afraid to ask for a discount. I picked up a 10 seater garden set at 40% discount by buying it at the show.

National Home Building and Renovation Show – 21st to 24th March

As the name suggests its all about self build and there will be 450 specialists to source products and  seek advice as well as show homes, seminars, and theatres showcasing skills.

Visit for more details.

Grand Designs Live – 4th to 12th May

At the ExCel London. I have to confess to not having been to one yet, but the free 30 minute consultation with an expert on renovation and self build would probably be fantastic, although I should imagine you’ll need to get there early to book your spot. As with the other exhibitions there’s a section for interiors, and garden design as well as a technology section for all the cutting edge gadgets for your home.

National Home Improvement Show – 27th to 29th September

This is held at Olympia Exhibition Centre. It’s a great place to source suppliers, products, services and companies for your home improvement project. There will be live seminars, experts on hand for one to one advice and useful demonstrations. For those of you who love interiors there will be a separate Interiors Village specifically covering areas of interior design and an interior design school as well as an expert on hand to answer questions.
